More trouble as Kano Assembly probes Gov Ganduje
The governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, has one more headache to contend with as the State House of Assembly has begun a probe into viral videos online showing him allegedly taking bribes amounting to $5 million from contractors.
The assembly has constituted a seven man committee to investigate the authenticity of the videos.
The videos, a product of a sting operation by Daily Nigerian in conjunction with some contractors, got the attention of state lawmakers on Monday, as a member representing Warawa Constituency, Labaran Madari raised a motion, saying the assembly should investigate the authenticity of the video and take measures.
According to Madari, the videos had brought the institution of governance in the state to disrepute, and therefore the need for the legislators to take urgent action.
The motion was seconded by Baffa Dan’Agundi, a member representing Kano Municipal.
In his response, the speaker, Alhassan Rurum, constituted a seven-man committee to investigate the matter and report back to the assembly.
Members of the committee include Baffa Dan’Agundi (Kano Municipal) as chairman; Labaran Madari (Warawa) member; Garba Gafasa (Ajingi), member; and Zubairu Masu, (Sumaila) member.
Others are Ayuba Labaran (Kabo) member; Abubakar Galadima (Bebeji), member; Garba Yau Gwarmai (Kunchi/Tsanyawa), member and; Mujtafa Amin, secretary.
