Real reason Ayefele’s radio station was demolished –Ex-gov Akala

Ex-Oyo State governor, Otunba Alao Akala has explained the real reason behind the demolition of Music House, the building housing Fresh FM 109.5, Ibadan, owned by gospel singer Yinka Ayefele.

According to the former leader, the demolition of part of Fresh FM structure in Ibadan was as a result of a gap in communication between the media outfit and officials of the Oyo State Government.

Akala revealed that much when he was approached by pressmen moments after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, Tuesday.

He said; “I think the demolition of the radio station, was just due to a communication gap between the government and the owner of the radio station.

“And I want to tell you that; that has been resolved. I want to put it on record and I am not lying, I will tell you the truth. I own a radio station (Parrot FM, Ibadan) in Oyo State too. A similar letter was written to the radio station and it was submitted to me.

“When I saw it, I said look, go to the local level — I am talking about the management of the radio station and settle your issue. I think it was just a lack of communication and that has been resolved.”

Following the backlash that followed the demolition of part of the building, a two-level peace meeting was facilitated by a top governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Joseph Tegbe between the chairman of the radio station, Yinka Ayefele and Governor Abiola Ajimobi, at the Agodi Government House.

One of the resolutions reached at the first level of the meeting was a directive issued by the governor ordering that a new building accommodating the additional parts of the demolished structure be approved for Ayefele immediately.

To that end, Ayefele’s architect was to immediately liaise with officials in the department of physical planning to work out the modalities and the approval, while the fence of the building would be moved back a few metres.
